School
I attended Blanchard Schools my entire life, from 1st grade in 1959, until I graduated in May 1972.
My children, Kenna (Lamb) Brooks (Class of 1994) and Derek Lamb (Class of 1997), are also Blanchard graduates.
College
Attended the Oklahoma Baptist University Academy Summer 1971, then returned after HS graduation to attend the Fall 1972 and Spring 1973 semesters.
My roommate my Freshman year was Teresa Queen. We had so much fun rooming together, and she served as my Maid of Honor when I married in June 1973. Teresa is now home with the angels in heaven, and I know they are enjoying her warm personality and beautiful singing!
Workplace
My first Civil Service job was at the Veterans Administration Hospital, where I began working in June 1973, the week after my wedding. I first worked in Psychiatry as a Clerk Steno, then as a Release of Medical Information Clerk.
When my husband went to Technical School in Rantoul, Illinois, after Air Force Basic Training in the summer of 1975, I took leave-without-pay to join him. I did not return to work for 7 1/2 years, as we began our family. Daughter, Kenna, was born June 1976, and son, Derek, was born May 1979.

tationed at Eielson AFB (Fairbanks), Alaska, I returned to Civil Service first as a Housing Clerk, then I worked in the Communications Squadron as a branch secretary, and finally as the Office Administrator in the newly established Family Support Center.
In 1985, we were reassigned to Minot AFB, North Dakota. I worked first as a Branch Secretary in the Supply Squadron, then was promoted to Communications Commander Squadron Secretary. While in this job, I was surprised when they nominated me for and I received the Strategic Communications Command Outstanding Enlisted Grade Civilian Administrator Staff Support Award!
In 1989, we were again reassigned to San Vito dei Normanni, Italy, where I first worked as the Civil Engineering Squadron Commander's Secretary on base, then as Chief of Mission Support for a Contracting oversight office (Defense Logistics Agency) located on the Italian Air Force Base in nearby Brindisi.
In 1992, my mother-in-law passed away in OKC and my father-in-law was in poor health. My husband was the only living child, so he submitted and received a Humanitarian Reassignment to Tinker AFB. We had 10 days' notice to move back to the States!
I worked from October 1992 till January 1993 at Tinker AFB as secretary to one of the AWACS squadron commanders. In January 1993, I had the opportunity to come work for the Federal Aviation Administration, first as a branch secretary, then I was selected for a growth position as an Editor. I have been a Technical Editor now for 10+ years. I will be eligible to retire in August 2010.
